Emerald cut diamonds are cut slightly different to other shapes. The bottom of the diamond is cut with a long facet, unlike the other diamond shapes where they are cut with multiple angle facets to create as much sparkle as possible.
1. The negatives with the way the emerald shape is cut is that we can see everything inside the stone clearly. This is great when purchasing a high clarity stone but not the best when looking at an emerald cut with a lower clarity as the inclusions will be very easy to spot.
2. The other reason why it will be easy to spot is because of the long singular facets, the diamond does not reflect the light anywhere near as much as a brilliant cut diamond would which also makes it easier to spot imperfections in the stone.
3. In my opinion emerald cut diamonds are beautiful when finding one with the right colour and clarity. It is a beautiful stone and most of the largest diamonds in the world are emerald cut with exceptional colour and clarity.
