The Brilliant Cut Diamond
A fan favourite is the Round brilliant cut diamond. It has a really bright sparkle to it as they have perfected the cut. It is the only shape that receives an official “Cut” grading. Quite a few of my clients when viewing other diamond shapes tell me they just saw an “Excellent cut” Princess cut diamond at another store. They may have seen a great stone but no other diamond shape receives a cut grading so if you are being pushed to purchase a ring and are being told its a “excellent” cut.. Ask for the paper work.
The diamond cutters have perfected the measurements for the brilliant cut, so I know when looking for a 1.00ct brilliant cut diamond the diameter should be close to 6.50mm. If it is 6.00mm I know it is a bottom heavy stone and if the measurements are 6.8mm I know that it is a shallow stone and could be leaking out the light the diamond.
Food for thought.
